May I suggest - as a remark of respect to those who have gone before us - we try to avoid posting or responding, during the Two Minute Silence?

They may indeed prefer to reflect in less glamorous ways and they have many tales of bravery and sacrifice that go unheard.
Yes, I observed the two minute silence, yes, 3 of my sons served with Her Majesty's Forces, but i do feel that a thread on CB on this subject was unnecessary despite being started with the best of reasons.

Your view, sqad, however, it was a polite and genuine request from Boxtops for ABers to respect the time and, therefore, meaningful.
Personally, I did not wear a poppy - I do not feel that I should, I made a donation though and that is what I think is appropriate. The point is each of us makes our reflections in the manner we think fit.
Although I wouldn't decry anything what happens today on Rememberance day, throughout the rest of the year, I do feel that we Brits do overegg WW2 (for example why is Dads Army shown for the nth time) and not enough on the other conflicts where Brits and Commonwealth (and others) have lost their lives/been seriously wounded. For example, Korea comes to mind as well as other spats around the globe......
