BMW service book notation
Does anyone understand this. In my service book for each service there is a list of things to do, each column is preceded with 2 tick boxes that have "yes no" as their column headings:

So does cross in the "no" column mean a yes? Does a tick in the no column mean no or yes? Is this maybe just down to the how the mechanics fill in the book? Any one out there know how to interpret this? It looks to me like a tick means it was done regardless of the column it's in. Any BMW service guys out there?

If you look down the left of the TIS page it will give you your cars year/mod, click on that then move to the appropriate section, myself I have the disk, I have a 99 coupe the disk is very useful. just a tip, your car will be on a chain not a belt so do not be worried about that, you have just got the car? get a local family run garage to check it out if your not too well up, if you get all this done the car will last you 200000 + but that depends on your pocket, the oil in my car get dropped every 5000 +filters, Why? 165000 in mint, look after your car & it will look after you.
I think that each item on the 'Evidence of Maintenance' list has to be shown to have been addressed.
Some items will have been worked on and received a 'mark' in the Yes column, others will have not been worked on, a 'mark' in the No column......but the Mechanic will have looked at these items and decided that there needed to be No Action taken at the time.......and has to have some way of confirming this.
Two different mechanics have completed the works in your photo, but I think the convention remains consistent despite the ticks or crosses.....I think you have to take account of where they appear.

My wife knows nothing about cars but when I showed her your service book she understood it, get a grip,
All the operations have a yes or no box, surely you know what yes and no mean!
If it has a x or a tick in the yes box the job has been done! If it has a tick or a cross in the no box it has not been done!
