a thank you or an insult?
Is it ok to get a bottle or something for the postman at christmas? They are a great team where I live and I want them to know that my appreciation is sincere. Do you think they would be insulted? Would it be better to take a box of bikkies round to the sorting office instead? Or do you tip them? what do y'all think?

We put some coins in an Xmas card and leave it hanging out of the letterbox just before they'll be coming round. It might seem a bit tight, but if every house game them a couple of quid each they could probably buy themselves an ipod!!!
I owuldn't take a box of biccies round the sorting office - there will be HUNDREDS of them there (posties, not biccies!!) and they'll get a crumb each. Better to make a gift to your actual postman. We know ours by name - cos he gives us an Xmas card too now! :-) In fact - we always wave to him and he waves back if we pass him in the street. And we don't live in a village either! :-)
