Probably depends on who your email account is with - there may be a limit to the size of attachment that can be received. This is often the case with 'free' email addresses - check with your ISP.
If mail sent to you is getting rejected then it's being bounced by your e-mail provider and nothing you can do on your PC is going to stop that. Either open a free web-based e-mail account with one of the hundreds of companies which offer this service (see below) or ask the person who wants you to send you the picture to post it to a free file-sharing site like File Factory: http://www.filefactory.com/ (This service is really easy to use. Just go to the site for instructions).

Going back to free webmail providers, Gawab.com is one of the easiest to use. It's target market is Arabs and Muslims (which is why you've probably never heard of it) but its available for anyone to use.

I was typing while Quizmonkey was posting. If the picture file is particularly large this could, indeed, be the cause of the problem. In which case File Factory is definitely the solution you require. (It accepts files up to 500Mb !).

What I think it is..........

.........In Outlook Express->Tools-> Options->Security->Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..Blah, Blah"

OE is just trying to be extra carefull.

Give that a try.

There seems to be a flaw in Ian's suggestion. If "Do not allow attachments" is checked, OE should still accept the mail but without the attachment. This would not result in the sender receiving a 'bounced mail' message.

The easiest way I can think of is to bypass mail servers all together! Get the sender to go to http://www.yousendit.com/, fill in your email address (or a disposable one that you own) as the Recipient, browse to the file and click send. He/She will have to leave their browser on the page while while the file is uploaded. When it has been uploaded you will be sent an email from yousendit with a link. Just click it and your browser will open to download it. Save it where you like. The file can be a maximum of 1GB (no typo) and you have a week to download it. There is also a maximum number of attempts to download it, I dont know what it is but it is over 5.

Oh, just get them to use a free account, that's all I ever use.
