Which is worse when someone laughs haughtily at you or if someone chuckles snootily at you?

Laughing haughtily, definitely. That way if you're getting laughed at because done/said something stupid you can shrug off the embarrasment by joining in the laughter - whereas the latter, would just be offensive.

Either demonstrate a complete lack of respect so I don't think that one is better, or worse, than the other.

Snootily=Snobbishly aloof and haughty.

So technically you could chuckle snootily i think.

this is the problem the meaning of snooty is also haughty so your question is is it worse to be laughed at or chuckled at. I am at a loss here as how would you know that someone's laugh/chuckle also had haughtiness behind it?
