psp memory sticks

Are psp memory sticks unique to psp or is this form of memory a type of standard used for various gadgets ? the reason i ask is that i want to get a 1 gig memory stick for a psp(when i purchase it) but noticed that the official sony one is �95 and it struck me that maybe there is another make of memory that would equally well but at a fraction of the cost ?

can anyone advise ?

Just enter 'psp memory stick' into Google and you'll find dozens of sites offering compatible products. (The first one I spotted was offering a 1Gig stick for �49.90).

i know that the new upcoming xbox360 works as memory with the psp. they made it deliberatly compatible to rub sony nose in it. therefore its can use a hard drive to store memory on!
