Polaroid Instant Cameras

Hi. Does anybody out there know anything about Polaroid Land cameras - you know the ones where the pictures come out the front and develop before your eyes!!!

I want to buy one off ebay (cheap) to do experiments with for my HND course but I don't know, and cannot seem to find out, which old ones you can still buy film for.

Ideally I want one that you peel the backing paper away after the developing time. I think these are much older.

Can anybody help??? Pleeeaase.

Yes, you can still buy peel-apart film for some polaroids. Eddie51 is right, though, the running costs are high, about �1 per shot or more. When I used to use it, I preferred the Fuji version, known as Fuji FP100 which is some kind of licence deal as it fits standard polaroid backs for professional film cameras as well as the old models eg 240, 360 etc. Don't even think about the old "swinger" models - completely different. The only ones of use will have a model Number, not a name. Overall, these days, it's cheaper and better to use digital , even if you need to buy a portable printer for field work. Beatties dept store in Birmingham have a Lexmark on offer for �80!! (although I'm not sure if it would run off batteries - probably not). Ask again if you need more info and I'll look it up. Polaroid cameras and film are still made. Many professional studio photographers would be lost without the ability to get instant proofs from trial lighting set-ups, which Polaroid prints still provide far better than digital images.

The only 'peel apart' film still manufactured is the new 125i colour film for cameras which take film packs (3.25" x 4.25") giving 11 shots per pack. So, if you're looking for a camera on e-Bay, you'll have to find one which takes this type of film. A word of warning, though: However cheap the camera might be, the prints are going to be expensive. Those film packs are sold in cartons of 5 (i.e. a total of 55 prints) for �64.39 (i.e. �1.17 per print!).

Argos sell poloroid cameras and films still if u have a look but whether its the peel apart sort thats old i dont know sorry
