hair highlighting,,safe at 6 wk pregnant?

..sorry dont mean to ask daft question not sure if this is the right place either..but after 2 miscarriages i dont want to take any risks,,.can anyone advise if its ok to have your hair highlighted at 6wk pregnant please?..thanks in advance!

its not been confirmed properly yet, but i wouldnt recommend it, i didnt do mine, but i would go to reputable hairdressers and ask them as they may be able to do foils. if they are rubbish ask your gp or midwife.

it wont hurt you or your baby. the only thing that could happen is the colour might not take well .  that's why they say to wait.

Not a daft question. If you are concerned, take the conservative side. I admire those who sacrifice so much for the health of their child. I know it's difficult, in many ways - hair and more. Healthy diet, no smoking, etc.

It's absolutely fine. The only exceptions here are to people who have had chemotherapy within the last six months to a year.  I am a qualified hairdresser.

Alfie, I understand your concern as I've heard rumours that pregnant women shouldn't bleach their hair and I didn't know how much truth there was in them.  But I do know a fair bit about miscarriage and you can't cause one by anything you do to your hair, or anything else you do in fact.  They're just caused by a mistake at conception.

Sorry maybe I should clarify my previous answer by adding that smoking and exposure to solvents slightly increase the risk of miscarriage, so it's not entirely true that you can't do anything to cause one.  Don't want to mislead anyone on that.

thanks for all of your answers you guys! you've been really sweet..I've done my fair share of research on miscarriage and I know that having my hairdone wont do any harm to the grain of rice that it is at the moment..i just wanted to make sure that I wasnt been neurotic!..even with all of your answers-I'm still unsure if I should have it done to be honest.. I'm a clean living gal who doesnt smoke or drink, sniff glue, eat raw prawns or pate!..so I'm sure that having my hair done will be just fine!...on another note- I am 5 weeks today..just got a scan date thru for next week when I'll be nearly 6 weeks..do you think they should be able to see a heart beat that early?

Alfie, you should look at this site:

It shows you the 'life' cycle of a developing embryo and will give you an idea of what to expect at every stage.  I think it says there's no heartbeat til about 10 weeks.
