changing network providers

i am currently on tesco for my calls etc but i want to change to a new provider. i think my fone is unlocked but when i put a different sim card in i get a message saying please enter subsidy password. does this mean my fone is locked to tesco??

'Subsidy password' is just Motorola's term for 'unlock code'. So, yes, it does mean that your phone is locked to Tesco (or possibly to O2, which actually provides Tesco's service. I'm not sure whether an O2 sim card would work in it).

cheers chris it is actually an o2 sim card i have tried in the phone. i also tried orange. i didnt realise o2 were linked to tesco. looks like i will have to get it unlocked then. thanks, bev

You can get the subsidy password from http://www.mobileunlocksolutions.com/ . Here i found an unlocking service for motorola mobiles.Through this you can unlock your mobile easily & use the other networks.
