Does anyone have any ideas how a person can differentiate themselves in a high performance sales/service environment and what self-development should they undertake.

Improve qualifications
Do overtime - possibly unpaid
Show flexibility
Suck up to the boss
Sleep with the boss
I would analyse my time to see where I was most effective at getting the results I was looking for. Directing your time and effort should help you to become more efficient which would show in higher volumes / profit margins. This is what your boss is probably looking for.
