hay fever preventative injection

Has anyone had it that can give me advice about it (not hay fever tablets, just the innoculation). Thanks

These were desensetising injections, I think about eight, one a week. they injected you with tiny doses of what ever you were allergic to. It wasn't a complete success but it did make a considerable difference to how bad the symptoms were and in my perception, they have never been so bad again.
Shortly after I had mine, they were stopped because of the risk of anaphylactic shock (like the nut allergy people can get.) I remember when i had the injections, I had to sit in the GP surgery for 20 mins afterwards presumably so that if I did collapse someone could save my life!!
