you quoted what he said and then decided what he meant, that's what my lass does when we're having a barney!
The way I read it is that he's asking that we consider what is acceptable language in Uruguay to gauge the malice in the statement. I don't see him saying anywhere that what Suarez said was fine, just that it doesn't carry the same level of malice that it does in this country and we should try and understand that before judging him.
I'm not saying I agree with Poyet or not, I'm saying you can't deduct from what he's said that he's supporting racism, that's a bit harsh!

I think there is a difference between personal insults between individuals and a blatant racism though.
It's just it seems you're only racist if you are white and English.

Why do blacks and homosexuals for instance hold the sole right of not having insults thrown at them, what about ginger haired people, fat people, right-wing people,etc, etc. don't they also have the same right not to be offended against?
I agree there should not be any direct discrimination show against a person just because they happen to have a different coloured skin, or because of their sexuality etc, etc.
But when it is just words, what the hell, one can simply ride the insulting words or give as good as one gets.
We have got rid of the time when one was refused a job or accommodation etc, because of one's skin colour or sexuality, and a good job too, but the constant "you can't say that", is all wearing a little thin, and it as if certain groups have a constant hold over others, and this can only lead to ill-feeling.
And before the subject of slavery is banded about in defence,then that thank goodness was far back in time, and no one living today was responsible.
The holocaust on the other hand was a more recent atrocity, but the Germans do not regularly have to apologise for that.

anotheoldgit you were mumping when naomi called a council offcial an idiot and said she should not use expletives. You have said in the past you have complained to the Ab Editor about comments directed toward you. Now, think of the effect of having another person screaming racial abuse at YOU, not folk in general but YOU in particular. Imagine a grown man racially abusing a young black girl as she walks down the street. Do you expect her to give as good as she gets or just brush them aside. What if it happens every day?
