for getting the young into employment by subsidising training jobs, (apprenticeships in other words). Also, they are giving councils 200 million to help with road repairs regarding potholes.

I wish the Beeb would stop saying 'The Government are paying' they are not, it is the tax payer who is paying.

They're paying our money.
The tax payer pays taxes whether they like it or not. The government is elected by the tax payer and spends as it sees fit.
I wouldn't mind if the councils SPENT the money on road repair. Here in rural Norfolk the potholes from last winter are just as bad - and will now get even worse when winter really sets in.
A small point McMouse, this Government is NOT elected, it's cobbled together by two erstwhile rival parties.
I wish they would stop saying " The Government are paying", too. It should be "The government *is* paying".
