Hi folks, at my wits' end. I just can't get anything for 65 across - item of clothing - "e?g?t?e". I'm sure the letters I have are correct coming from "visualise", "gnome", "tugboat", and "unearth". First time I've been totally flummoxed and would appreciate any suggestions (for the word that is).

Many thanks

Looks like Nightie..which would make your Visualise wrong.
:-((
NIGHTIE?
If your firat "e" is wrong, them I agree with my lady, (tug forlock!!!)
What was the clue that gave you the E at the beginning?
What's the clue for the word giving the first letter jay?
WHich makes my 'gestation' look better than 'visualise'
(if I've got the questions etc correct...don't have the paper.)

Hi all. The first "e" comes from "visualise" - conception of an idea. Can't think of anything else, but it is the DR.
I'm wondering how gestation and visualised could be confused
I *believe* the clue is 'conception of an idea' (9)

Gestation is not the best answer for this, I agree, but it is better than 'visualise' and seems to fit the letters better too.

"Visualise" comes from
Verbena - Daisy-like flower
Stratus - Grey Cloud
Amalgam - Alloy of mercury with another metal
Introduce - Present
all of which fit in with other answers
Cheers
A useful website for you: http://www.chambersha...ards/wwizards.py/main
Click in the search box to open it then type in your known letters and use ? for unknown ones, just as you did in your post. Click on Search.
If you get "No words found" try changing one of your known letters for a ? and try again.
It also works for anagrams. Just type in the letters in any order and click on search and it will unscramble them for you.
Gestation
2. The conception and development of a plan or an idea in the mind.

VISUALISE has been worked out but if the V from Verbana is wrong then would GESTATION fit?

Anyone know a daisylike flower beginning with G and having 7 letters?
the daisy like flower could be gerbera
Gerbera
Question Author
Hi everyone
"Gerbera, Gestation, and Nightie" it is. I'm not into floral arrangements or even gardening I've never heard of Gerbera. I can now go off to a good night's sleep.

Many thanks to all who responded.
