yaris tapping sound

please help, my yaris is about to go out of warranty and its making tapping sound under load. garage is saying they cannot replicate it, and i couldnt make it do it when they came for test drive.

what could this problem be? it happens at between 1 & 2 on the rev counter, is worse up a hill and doesnt happen all the time ;o(

Thank you for help with Honda headlights. Have had new bulbs fitted by lovely mechanic. Much better but would still like beam raised slightly but needless to say need a special Honda tool to do it I think. Now would like an automatic garage door fitted.

the garage that would have to fix it for free can't replicate it, well cover me in eggs and flour and bake me for 40 minutes!.

Take it to an independant garage and take out the mechanic and do whatever you do to make it happen. then get his opinion in writing. you'll have to pay for half hour labour probably.

When you warranty has expired you'll find the original garage will magically be able to reproduce the problem.

Is the tapping coming from any identifiable part of the car? My first thought is at is pinking due to being in too low a gear. Try going up the same hill at the same speed in a lower gear.

Pinking is what I would have said as well , due to pre ignition of the fuel, between 1 &2 on the rev counter is very low hardly more than tick over speed. Do what you do to get the sound and then drop down a gear, if the sound stops it is 'pinking'
