my house is on a corner with a sort of yarden all down the side next to the pavement, and it gets a lot of litter thrown in by passers by...

the other day i found a screwed up ball with an envelope and a letter in it - on my doorstep!!
it had someones name and adddress in it... which is just over the road, in a differnt street

any ideas what i should do?

im quite annoyed about it

not suggesting sueing them or anything, but would like to teach them a lesson, as i have no doubt they will do it again as they would pass my house on the way to the shops regularly.

cheers

We might see you on the telly when you and your neighbour start feuding.
We often get things blowing down our street when its gusty. Sometimes
looks like them tumbleweeds you see on westerns.

"my garden is not a litter bin, further litter will be returned"
Question Author
it is a walled area... most things are not blown in at all... most of whats in there is dumped. mostly its bottles, cig packets, food wrappers etc... even had a load of old pipes and a piece of kitchen counter top once
put it in an envelope, address to the offender, and don't put a stamp on it, so they will have to pay to find out they're getting their own rubbish back.

haha nice, thanks jno i like that
We get all sorts in our garden its foxes
Well, I reckon it was probably blown there as well. If you insist on putting it back through their letterbox just write that you are doing them a favour as they are putting themselves at risk of identity theft by being so careless and aren`t they lucky you are being so considerate as you could have stolen their details, cleaned out their bank account and cloned their passport!
The wind might have blown it there. It's really windy you know. Better than dog crap on your garden.I'd give that back to the dog owner!

look, i know it cant have blown there... it was a tight ball... itd have to have crossed a main road unscathed, gone round a corner, gone through a gate or over a wall then climbed steps - all in the space of an hour when there was no wind! ... all whilst keep completly spotlessly clean -

i did think of that myself you know...
Question Author
i get that too cupid... little bags of it.. even used to have actual turds on the step! thats why i got a gate put in...

it happened a week or so ago...no wind
But it might have blown there :-p
id go with what 237 has suggested. Even if it was thrown in by them, at least they are then aware that you know where rubbish is coming from.
but passing fairies could of created a wind as they passed and nurtured the little ball along to your garden
kids kick things when walking to and from school. Even I have been known to
kick a pebble as I walk down the shops. Perhaps a magpie dropped it.

I know how you feel about people dumping litter in your front garden joko as it happens where I am. However, some years ago I actually made money out of it!!! I picked up a bit of screwed up paper, saw it was a betting slip and inside that was a £5 note! I can only assume someone won summat at the betting shop and ditched the slip without noticing the £5....my gain for clearing up their rubbish!
