Sadness Again
19 Answers
I have just had to have a second cat 'put to sleep'. She became very poorly very fast. She had lost the use of her back legs and was just dragging them along. Her temperature was very high and she hadn't eaten anything for at least two days. There was no way I could let her live like that, so I had to let her go. She was 13 years old and I had her from when she was 5 weeks. Just a few weeks ago I had to have Woody 'put to sleep' too. My house is a very sad house.

Thankyou again to all you lovely people. I often read 'Rainbow Bridge' it is such a lovely poem and helps with the loss of ones pet.
ttfn, I don't think I will get another cat, I do still have one at home, his name is Milo and he is 9 years old. He is a big heavy solid cat, but as soft as butter. He is friends with all my neighbours and goes knocking on their doors for treats (no wonder he is so big!!). I also have a retired greyhound, and a German Shepherd. They all get on very well.

I'm so sad for you to have lost two precious friends close together.
If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle cannot be won
You will be sad I underatand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day more than all the rest
Your love for me must stand the test
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer so
The time has come please let me go
Take me where my needs they'll tend
And stay with me until the end
Hold me firm and talk to me
Until my eyes no longer see
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you do for me
Although my tail it's last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved
Please do not grieve it must be you
Who has this painful thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold back its tears
Don't know why but I found some comfort in this verse when we had to have our old boy put to sleep in August, he was nearly 20 years old a most beloved cat. I'll be thinking of you as my cats get their goodnight cuddle tonight.
