Over the years I've have had numerous problems with Vista and they frequently send updates and patches. . The Restore function has never worked , it often freezes and very often it takes ages to open a site . If it is in idle mode it takes ages to come back to life. In fact its very often quicker to shut down and reboot.

Which makes me wonder is it worth while updating to Windows 7 ?

Yes .. Head and Shoulders.
I would not upgrade tho .. rather replace.
Depends on the computer your going to put it on. I find Windows 7 much better than Vista.
The techies would want to know the specs of your computer.

Mind there is talk of Windows 8 in 2012 sometime.
Agree with Mr Bags - save all your data & emails & stuff on an external drive and then wipe your PC hard-drive and start with a clean build of 7
You'd be better checking over with the Windows 7 upgrade adviser tool tho.

i read somewhere that windows 8 is primarilly for mobile devices
I agree that windows 7 is an improvement on vista.

But I'm not sure it's worth upgrading older computers, vista works fine as long as all the service packs and updates are installed.
.. but if it doesn't work fine .. you're completely screwed.

It wont be PRIMARILY for mobile devices.

More likely they will provide a Windows Tablet version or something like that, in the same way they have Windows 7 Starter version for Netbooks.
