Boy#2 has got some really sore mouth ulcers. I he to take him to the dentist yesterday as he had a problem with his tooth (which the dentist sorted out) and the dentist said I had to take him back for antibiotics if he had any more problems with it as that would mean he had an infection. His tooth isn't giving him any trouble now but could he still have an infection? Is there anything I can do to make his ulcers less painful/go away quicker? Thanks.

I had lots of problems with mouth ulcers in my teenage years. My doctor prescribed a sort of paste which completely sealed over the sensitive area of the ulcer, which worked really well.

I later purchased the same stuff without prescription, so I suspect that any pharmacist would still be able to supply it (even though I can't remember the name of it). However (through TV advertising) I've recently seen that Bonjela seems to have started marketing a very similar product,so perhaps it's worth a try?

i use something called fador, you get it from the pharmacy counter, it puts a protective layer over the ulcer and gets them to go away really quickly. not sure what ages range its for though.

Thanks all, I'll go and have a word with a pharmacist tomorrow (the boy's going to have to go to school though).
I get 2 or 3 a year. If they are bad I usually resort to Bonjela or Anbesol.
I used to use frador when I had mouth ulcers, it worked really well sher, but it used to sting really badly when applied!.....may have changed nowadays though, worth checking it out, as it did work really well!......
corsodyl mouthwash is good for soothing ulcers too
