I've got to drive 35 miles to the Crown Court for 10.40 tomorrow to present my Petition for Bankruptcy and my car battery is dead as a dodo. Can anything else go wrong in my life????????????

My son is coming round to jump start it but what if it does it again in the morning??

Grr.

Soulkd I take it for a longish run this afternoon? It hasn't had a decent run for a while.
leave the cvharge on overnight, it should start tomorrow no problem
-- answer removed --
should do as the cars not running and as long as it dosnt have an alram/central locking there is nothing to draw current from the battery
charging would be better...not to mention cheaper
You poor thing, Give your car a good run once it is jump started preferably with someone following you then stop and restart it to make sure it is the battery and not the alternater. Deep breath for tomorrow I've been there but once things are financialy sorted things will seem a bit better, How is charlie?
oh , im sorry to hear about your car chrissa, but good luck for tomorrow ♥

How long is a "Good Run"?
Glad to here he is doing well, Keep your chin up,
Hi Chrrissa, we had that problem 2 weeks ago? had to call out the AA. They got it started but said it had to have a run around to charge it properly. he recommended a 30 mile run ! So we did just that and now its fine. we havent done much driving around lately. Good luck for tomorrow x
I would give it at least 30 Mins up and down a dual carriageway, with no radio, lights, window wipers, heaters on All electricals off
taking it for a run, not only will you be using power as well as charging, but it only puts a surface charge on the battery that will then disperse into the battery once it is parked up, an overnight charge (8 hours +) gives the battery more longevity
If you only drive short distances then a battery charger is a good investment bearing in mind that it takes a journey of about 4 miles to put back the charge used to start the car first time. Excessive cranking to startit will obviously take much more out of the battery.

We've just tried to jump start it with jump leads with no success. My son is going to charge it up overnight. Fingers crossed.
Chrissa .. you may need to charge over-night. Don't leave sat all night with no charge going in .. it will maybe be flat again in morning.
The battery may have almost died .. and they need damn great jump leads to start in that condition. Sorry.

We put it on charge and when my son checked after about an hour, the light was green. He put it on the car and it fired up!! The battery is back on charge again now for the night. A good long run tomorrow should do the trick I hope.
