Personal injury????
My wife received a call last week to come and collect our son from school as he had fallen and may need to go to A&E. She arrived at the school and met by the teacher and our son. My wife asked what had happened and was told that he wasn't running and tripped over a chair and must have fell against something sharp. The cut on his head looked very deep and the Dr in a&e said it was better to glue the wound than to stitch as no anaesthetic was required. Anyway I've told a few colleagues of what had happened and they have said, are you claiming. I had never considered this to be an option but if my son was entitled to something from this that he could benefit from in his future then surely I should put in a claim.
Any advice would be greatly received

Personally I wouldn't claim- sounds to me as if your child was doing what kids do- falling over and banging his head. Surely you don't want him to grow up with the idea that he can fall over and it's a cash cow? If the school were negligent that's one thing, but doesn't sound that way to me, it's just a childhood accident, but at the end of the day it's up to you...

That's right. You sue 'em! Get what you can. That's what compensation culture is all about.
Don't be so daft! It's only a minor accident. That's what kids do!
You'd be a lot better off if you gave your son a kiss and a cuddle than imbue him with the idea that someone else is always to blame for whatever goes slightly wrong - and that there's always a pot of gold to be had.

For a claim to succeed there has to have been negligence.
The school should have recorded the incident in the accident book. I suggest you need to ask what was recorded and what the item was that cut his head. If it was just the edge of a wooden/plastic edge than I think you just have to accept this is an accident and that your son may take a bit more care next time. On the other hand if he fell onto a dangerous object then he may have a case
