Is the recent TV version of Sherlock Holmes worth a watch? Apparently the first season was on last yearand I don't live in UK so have missed it.

Does this compare in any way to the fantastic series with Jeremy Brett?

If you mean the series with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Holmes then I enjoyed it. It was some of the old cases but done with a modern twist, very clever I thought. I am also huge fan of Jeremy Brett.
Doesn't sound as if it would work - but it does, brilliantly. All done in present time (think mobiles, GPS etc)- a very good way to spend an hour or more.
I love the series "Sherlock" and I think you will enjoy it.

Yes, it is a different take on Sherlock Holmes, but I know many people who are fans of the Jeremy Brett series who like this new version too.

I guess it all depends on your expectations.

I pass the street they use as "Baker Street" every morning on the way to work and have seen some filming being done there a few times.
Do give it a go munbeanz, it's well worth it. My OH is a bit of a purist when it comes to A.C.D but even he enjoyed this modern take on the original stories. Ben Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman certainly did Holmes and Watson justice IMO.
Agree with all of the above, very enjoyable and worth watching. My only criticism would be who was picked to play Moriarty, I thought he should have been older.
I enjoyed it so much I bought the DVD to re watch.
Absolutely brilliant. They repeated the first series a few months ago and as is always the way, one thinks they repeat it as a prelude to the new series starting. It's not going to be shown til next year.

Very well written and acted.
