For a young lady of a similar type as the model, who lives in jeans but likes pretty tops and often wears short cardigans over longer sweat shirts, and likes a bit of glitter!! Doesn't wear jewellery.

Thanks for all the further comments. Nice cardi Robinia, At that price I would expect the bling to be the real thing!!!
I really like the second one and might still get it, but the reviews let it down. Perhaps will try the market next week!!!
(I like the first one too China, but the second one does look a bit 'younger' and probably more suitable.)
Thinking now about a Top Shop voucher!!

LOL at the whole thread Lofty. I hindsight I suppose its unlikely you'd get any help from CB - there are too few "young ladies" here for a start.
My two penn'arth says go for the second one. But I'd avoid buying clothes as a gift as its such a personal thing and a lot of money to spend if its wrong.

Update.
I bought the second one as M&S had 25% off knitwear and I had a £10.00 voucher to spend.
It is very pretty and very her. Hardly knitwear though, just a pretty very lightweight little cardi. Size 10. It will suit her and if she doesn't like it then I will send it back and she can choose something she likes from elsewhere.
Ann86, I agree that prices have gone up, but I personally love all the thick knit big sweaters that are fashionable this year. I have invested in a few which look great with leggings and jeans (my staple wardrobe is leggings/jeans/tunics and huge long jumpers!!)
Thanks for your input peoples.
