Home Insulation problem
Sorry the last e-mail missed out the beginning of my question. Last Wednesday afternoon, we had loft insulation installed using the Tesco scheme. A local firm came to install it. However one of the workmen who was working in the loft had accidentally disconnected an overflow pipe from the water tank unbeknown to us. Early Friday morning, I woke and heard a noise and discovered water dripping from the lintel of the bathroom door. We called the firm immediately who sent someone out to inspect the damage. He said that the damage was minimal and could have been a lot worse and that we should leave it for a week to dry out and if things didn't return to normal we should contact him again. The result of the mini flood has left us with a bathroom door that wont get anywhere near closing, an extremely wet area in the loft which has already cost us a great deal of time and energy in trying to dry it out and now we discover that there is a large damp patch in a bedroom that we have recently decorated and refurnished. Can you inform us as to where we stand and what we can demand from this firm?

You should go back to them & say you are not satisfied with their response & request another visit. Also, put it in writing - setting out all the details. You are entitled to be put back in the position you were in - i.e. they should repair all the damage at their cost. And let the Tesco people know about it as well.
