Mice surreptitiously come and go without most home owners knowing it. They, like rats are prime carriers of the fleas. Fleas eggs and larvae can remain dormant for quite a while under some circumstances. Once in the house, they will then seek out the pets and you for a blood meal.
Good luck!
Fleas UGH! Fleas can live in grass. They thrive in warm moist areas.... One year we had no fleas at all and then the next we were infested. Our Vet said that it all depends on the weather. If you have had a mild summer with alot of rain they are worse. But, if it is real hot and dry they are not as bad. Also they can be dorment for a long time...
Once we moved to a small apt and there seemed to be no fleas at all ( we had no pets then) but as soon as we got a cat the fleas seemed to appear out of no where. You can protect your cat with a flea treatment that you can get from your vet and it last a month at a time. I use it on all of my animals and it kills the fleas and the eggs. It dosnt repel the fleas, but it will kill them in mins of biting......I would also vacum alot to get them out of carpets and rugs. Wash all the cats bedding in hot water, washing in warm or cold will not kill the fleas. They are very hard to kill.
Here is a web site that I found which has a lot of information on fleas www.pmra-arla.gc.ca/english/consum/fleas-e.html Also tells alot about treatment Good luck! I know they are a pain........ :)
