This morning I had to go for a blood test at the doctors.
The car park isn't very big and there are about 5 disabled parking spaces.
Parked in one of these spaces was a works van.
So with my very angry face on I went up to the driver who was reading his paper and having a brew and had a right go at him for parking in a disabled space and not having a blue badge.
He looked quite shocked at me but it really annoys me when people park where they shouldn't.
I wasn't in the doctors long and he had moved when I came out so I was pleased I'd had a go at him.
Does it bother you when people park where they shouldn't?

Ok I'm all tired out now and in my more gentle mode when I can calmly say I'm sorry for having my rant on here but I do feel better for it :-)
To all of you who understood my frustration, Thank you.
For all of you who don't understand or care that disabled people need to park near to the entrance and use their designated spaces, well what can I say? Please try to show a little compassion.
To all of you who have disabilities please apply for a blue badge and if you get turned down, then appeal.

I can't see any indifference or disrespect for the disabled on this thread. All I am saying is that the blue badge scheme needs overhauling and that the amount of disabled parking spaces in our area is disproportionate which leads to aggravation. I have every respect for disabled people - I am not exactly very able bodied myself.

have you tried putting a letter of support from your doctor or consultant who can validate your mobility problems?

I do all I can to help disabled people in all walks of life, but I don't like people that take advantage.

I agree with Lottie - the badge should go to those needing it and, yes, there are far too many abusing them - they are too easy to use by the relatives/friends of folk with them and I bet they can be easily duplicated....

Take care MissP - a calm "point out" that you shouldnt be here than a rant, would, I presume, be more effective at getting your message over to the berks - and a lot safer re personal risk.

Cazz, I have given them the names of my doctor and my hospital consultant and given my consent for them to contact both if necessary. This is what they asked for. I am awaiting steroid injections to be administered by ultrasounds guidance on my feet, and then possible fusion operations on both feet :o(.

I suggest you see the CAB then, you sound like you have a case and they have people who are experts in dealing with these things, I have a friend who used them recently, he has spinal damage from a work accident, he can barely walk and is on morphine for continual pain, they refused him mobility and a blue badge, since he got in touch with the CAB they have been helping him he has since been successful so its always worth a try.

I might take your advice Cazz, I also have spinal damage from a fracture, as well as ostearthritis in hips and down spine (amongst other places).

The silly thing is often I am OK and then have flare ups and can hardly get about at all and really do have problems. I sometimes find it difficult getting in and out of a car in a normal parking space where you can't open the door wide (because of back problems).

The application form is useless asking such questions as how far can you walk and how many minutes does it take to walk that distance. I think local rules differ from authoritiy to authority. It is easier to get a Blue Badge if you are registered disabled and I don't consider myself disabled or even want to go down that route - might come to it one day though!!!!

today i reported a bloke for parking in child space at morrisons when he didnt have a child in the car I hate people who do this what makes them so damn special ? is it because he has a big car and thinks he can park wherever the hell he wants!! he was asked to move it!! result!

My husband is disabled so I know what a nightmare it can be! It seems nowadays that virtually all disabled parking spaces are taken. Went shopping today, no disabled spaces - there was a guy parked in the disabled space next to us (we parked in a normal space but there was luckily space to the side). The guy was sat in his car (presumably waiting for his wife to finish shopping) with no badge displayed.

I think the best thing to do (which is what I'm going to start doing), is telling them that they've forgotten to display their badge!

Unfortunately, many car parks will not fine people if they're parked in a space without a badge.

I've thought about keeping some notes in the car to shove on people's windscreens, just saying how selfish they are to be parked there and that we've had to struggle.

So yes, it definitely bothers me! It's not until you're disabled that you realise what a nightmare it is. Also, there are 16,000 blue badges still in use where the holder has died!!!
