How To Bathe a Dog.....?

...when she won't go in the bathroom-too confined,doesn't like water all that much, and you haven't got a garden.

They should do fine, pasta. I bathed the lurcher last weekend and trimmed a bit of her coat to make her look perfick. I used about 10 wipes and then just brushed her coat. As she has a medium coat length this teatment makes her coat sit beautifully and she smells good too. Big Sis took her to the vet on Monday for her booster jab and the vet commented what great condition her coat was in. The pup also has a very pink tummy. She thoroughly enjoys her grooming sessions. I have never known any other dog to stay fast asleep whilst i cut all its nails !

Callie needs a bath too!...I've been putting if off, remember what happened last time, she soaked me and the bathroom, she fought me all the way! and she has grown lots since then!....Have some dog wipes, so maybe will go with that opton for now!.........think it'll be two person job!.....lol...........

Hi welsh :) If you have never had to pick up 12½ stone of Newfoundland dog and pop him into the bath, then spend the next hour or so trying to get a lather up on his double coat, then have to turn him in the bath, make him stand every so often because he is damning the bath water flow when he sits down, then carefully pick him up to lower him gently on to the soggy tiled floor - you aint lived, believe me!

WELL MY DOG LOVES WATER HATES BATHES WHAT WE DO IS i have no idea if you have these in uk but in the u.s we have a muzzle like thing (it doesnt keep dogs from biting) it makes them calm like when mom dog pickes them up it makes them limp anyway we bring a leash and clip them to the gentle leader then we wash her probably not helpful tho...

ha ha ttfn, Callie is a 5 month old cocker spaniel, she is crazy, but lovely, she hates the bath!.......soaks me and everything in sight when we feel the need to get her clean!.......have to admit that after all this rain she does smell a bit doggy!.........may try the wipes for now!.......lol...........

Ok...I'm definately trying the wipes. Sally smells 'doggy'...to me. Which means she may be 'whiffy' to others...lol
I think she'll enjoy it.....I have to wash my sofa covers this weekend-so while they are drying-sally will get sanitised...heehee

I know its the wrong time of year but in the summer we take Max down to the local river he'll stand all day in the water while I shampoo and rinse him then out he comes a quick shake and rub down and by the time we get home he's dried off.

paddywak, hoping that by next Spring I can do that with Callie, we live by the sea, but at present she hates baths!.......

Max is the same if we try to get him to stand in the shower he goes crazy but he's happy to play in the river all day, at a pinch he'll even stand while I use a hose pipe with a sprinkler nozzle on it so long as there's not to much pressure on it. I think that he doesn't like standing on the ceramic base even with a old blanket on it.

We used to place our old dog on a towel on the shower mat, warm shower spray, soothing words, soft music, candles etc.(Or is that the other half?!) Important though to keep the water out of the eyes or they'll shake it all over.

How to bathe a dog...don't bother ..take her to the groomers :)
Shaney would go out in pouring rain,six foot of snow and swim in the sea but try and bath him and he turned into a huge wet grumpy monster scrabbling around ,soaking me and the whole bathroom .It was up the walls ,all over the floor and practically on the ceiling .
One attempt was enough .He went to the groomer ever after .I used to wave to him and disappear pronto .When I went to collect him they used to say ..oooh what a lovely boy ...so well behaved .The bgr:)
