What is happening to this country - every day there are more and more stories like this, its so scary that people can "turn evil" so easily...
He certainly had psychiatric problems EDDIE, hope he's locked up indefinately.
I remember reading many years ago of a whole family of children (five I think) who went skating on thin ice and were all drowned. I could not imagine the terrible devastation the parents must have felt.
anne, I think the main thing with such stories is that we are made aware of them by the media in a one-hit fashion. We have no idea of the build up in cirumstances so the impact on us is felt very hard. Somedays I wonder why I read the news - so much of it is bad and upsetting it makes me fear for the human race in general. I agree though that the loss of such young innocent ones is absolutely awful.
there are worse, beleive me

this has to be the most horrendous thing ever :(
Most news items do not distress me in any way. While I can think a situation is sad or terrible or horrific, unless it directly effects me or someone I care about, I will not find it distressing. Distress to me would mean a personal involvement.
On more than one occasion in the States there have been cases of women who are desperate to have a baby and have killed heavily pregnant women and cut the baby out of their womb. That`s a pretty grisly one. I wonder how long it will be before it happens here?
a harrowing news story can cause distress.
Have to agree with that ojread! Words fail me!
I have to admit to getting distressed and maybe even slightly obsessed with certain news stories. Baby P comes immediately to mind, I must have read virtually every news item going on that, and it did upset me and absorbed a huge amount of my thinking time. Another was this one, not a child, but a vulnerable adult - http://www.guardian.c...-torturing-man-death. I just truly despair of the people who commit and partake in such brutality of another human being. But in such extreme cases like these, sadly I think death has come as a blessing to the victims, because life must have been unbearable.
I often get distressed reading about the horrendous things humans do to babies, children, animals and each other. I often think the human race still has a long way to go. All this pain, suffering and fear in the world is the main reason why I will never be 100% happy.
it was his neglect prior and the disregard after, that upset me more than his actual death! x
Agree.
