what, potassium metal ?

You're joking! Very reactive, soft metallic, burns explosively in water with a pink flame (quite pretty really as you go up in smoke)

something like Pot chloride ? You could buy it in the shops as a salt substitute but read the label

Oh and by the way - if you are on a low sodium diet and someone has said K is all right as a substitute - then discuss it with your doctor.

I think that's right. Conspiracy to cause explosions, etc etc. Oh well. World we live in.
Errr francium is radio active with a half life in minutes....not much chance of getting any or if you could of hanleing it in air. Cesium cost aprox 50 a gram (thats about half a teaspoon).
If you want it in the nutrient form then it would be bananas. Potassium is also known as Natrium which in the ionic form is soluble in water. My chemistry is a little rusty though, i'd like someone to confirm or denounce this, if possible.
