The boat that rocked is on ITV1 at 22.05. All about pirate radio. Mr. cupid
is rather into that kind of thing. The only annoying thing is it is split by the
news. Any fans of pirate radio out there? We always listen to Cardboard
shoes on a Sunday night. Anyone remember him. He plays a lot of fifties
and sixties stuff.
While Keith Skues has done more than anyone else to record and preserve the history of pirate radio, I can't stand him as a DJ!

For me, the star of pirate radio was Johnnie Walker, with his 'Kiss in the car' contest on Radio Caroline. I've got one of these stickers in my car:

We,ve recorded it to watch at a later date [because of ads and it clashes with
some war film on BBC2] that mr. cupid is watching. We might toot you while
out driving, Buennchico [if you're lucky, Lol!]
I saw the film in the cinema and I liked it. I used to listen to Radio Caroline in the 70s but we were a long way away and I could only listen at night when the signal was better. My local radio station started as a pirate station. I went there the other day to buy a book that they have about their early days. I was invited into the studio with the DJ which was very exciting. He said they have people there who worked at Caroline. There are still pirate stations across London. I get bursts of them in the car sometimes. I was out last night with a friend who`s a helicopter pilot. He said he gets bursts of pirate stations on his helicopter radio sometimes. I can see why they`re outlawed as they can be very dangerous in some quarters.
I used to listen to Luxemburg - that was the first time I heard 'Sebastian' by Cockney Rebel - I remember it vividly because i had never heard anything remotely like it before - and all these years later, i still haven't!
I wasn't born till 66 so missed out on Pirate Radio but as a simple film The Boat That Rocked was brilliant, I laughed till it hurt watching it on Saturday night...great film.
