help for nephew

not sure if i should have put this in computer section but as it maybe connected to the internet queries here goes, he is trying to log in to his employers site and they have given him a user name and password but when he does this he says it will not give him access as his the server could not verify he is authorised access the documents, also saying additionally a 404 not found error was encountered, think this is what he said but not 100% sure, expert is my hubby and he isnt available so any help will be great, thanx

Has he tried using https instead of http?

Also, does this require some sort of VPN connection first?

I'm pretty sure Server Error 404 is at their end and not your nephew's end.

Yes, but that's why I asked about the VPN (virtual private network). Without knowing more about the setup in question, it's (almost) impossible to solve this problem...

i do appreciate the quick responce but have just had an email from him and he apparently didnt scroll down to the bottom of his works webpage where he had to put his info in so he has now done what he had to do to log into their site, but many thanx
