Travel safety in Egypt

Hello.

I wonder if you can help please. I and my husband are hoping to visit Egypt again for our 5th time in June 2012. However, we are now getting conflicting advice from our friends in Cairo. One friend is saying it is not safe and the other friend is saying it is safe for tourists. We usually stay in Cairo for a few days then travel to El Minya so we can visit El Ashmounein and we are also hoping to visit Dendera and Abydos again as well as Saqqara.

Please could anybody provide us with some unbiased advice on whether or not it is safe for us to visit?

Hi

Thank you both for your responses. I have been checking the fco site and it has basically remained unchanged. I am just a bit confused as one friend says it is very dangerous and another says it is safe.
