Natural home fragrance

Has anybody got any ways they've used to fragrance their home? Plug in air fresheners smell a bit cloying to me, and I'm looking for something more natural. I use candles occasionally, but want something I don't have to remember to extinguish!

2) aromatherapy oil on a tissue tucked behind a radiator or in another warm spot... lemongrass is nice so is orange or at this time of year silver fir for a proper christmas tree scent
3) natural beeswax candles
4) vanilla pods or other spices in the bottom of a low oven
