I am on my own today, i have my laptop and a new digital HD TV to watch and I am not lonely. I belong to 5 clubs the majority of whom have over 15 members. The advice I usually get at this time of year, is why don't you help dish out meals to the homeless, you would get company.
I have back and balance problems so carrying is out of the question.
Several years ago I went into a hotel for a 4 day Christmas break, but though the hotel advertised entertainment, there wasn't any. It cost me £199 to watch TV.
There must be others in my position, what do you do? I have half a chicken to cook and will do it with all the trimmings, I don't like Christmas pudding so I have a M & S treacle sponge to eat, if I have room.
I have lots of recorded TV to watch and lots of books to read. V

I'm happy with just the cat for company (and she's happy with a whole can of salmon, and loads of turkey and stuffing, all just for her!)
I've just finished my traditional turkey lunch (using cooked turkey, carved from the bone, from Morrisons). I'm particularly proud of the marmalade-glazed parsnips I prepared. (I was moving the marmalade jar to reach for the honey when I decided that marmalade would make an interesting change). And this wine is, for a fiver, absolutely stunning. (A 2006 Rioja Reserva, reduced from £12.49 in Morrison's).
I'll delay consumption of my Panettone pudding (from Tesco's 'Finest' range), with extra thick cream, until I've got room for it!
There are continuous 'Carry On' films on ITV3 all day, with lots more comedy available on other channels. (It's The Two Ronnies on Yesterday for me at the moment).
OK, so I'm on my own with no presents to open but I'm still enjoying Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas, Amber, Fred, Dr F and Boxtops.
