His final show was gesting with Elton John at Maddison Sqaure Gardens. Elton played on 'What Ever Gets You Through The Nigfht' and jokingly bet with Lennon that if the song got to Number One, Lennon would have to guest with Elton at MSG. It did, and Elton called in his bet - the last time Lennon ever played live.
