I opened my Easter egg last sunday, left it on the table, but noticed the strong chocolate aroma.
My question is :-How can I find out if the egg loses weight during the smell emination, And why did father Christmas not visit me
Seeing that smells are conducted via molecules, then it should be expected, that, however slight, a substance... any substance (even those with body odor) will lose weight as the molecules depart.
Having said that, one would also have to determine if the substance of the first part giving off odors might not also be gaining weight from inhaling or otherwise accumulating odors, no?
Should you find a balance sensitive and accurate enough to detect a weight loss from your christmas easter egg, you will have to find a way to make sure that the weight loss is not due to anything else other than the emanation of chocolate smell molecules. (such as water, oils or solvents used in the manufacturing process). For this you will need an egg that is identical in every way but does not smell of chocolate. Alternatively you could try keeping the egg in an atmosphere that has a relative humidity of 100% so that water does not evaporate from your egg. It will still lose oils and solvents but you could argue that these are part of the chocolaty smell.
As for father chrismas, it seems that he is having trouble with his calendar, those elves can be a bit naughty.
F Christmas seeing that you have only just opened your Easter egg has put you on his 'Pending' list , expect a visit around mid March !
