ive been smoking out of my bedroom window for years and have a bad habit of spitting all the time when i do! today i noticed what looked like patches of i think moss growing where ive spat over the years! is that possible???

Moss can grow anywhere that a wind-borne spore can land, as long as there is sufficient moisture (which you seem to have been providing!):

Didn't I see a post a few weeeks ago relating to moss growth on roofs beneath tv ariels as a result of their droppings. A quick look at our roof seemed to confirm this. Probably the same sort of thing

lol! by rights i shouldnt be smoking in the first place what with chest pains and acid reflux it does me no good! and i only do the spitting thing when im on my own not when im around people then it would in fairness be disgusting :P

Eergh, that is disgusting - you don't know what sort of bacteria might be growing on phlegm. I'd get out there with some bleach and a scrubbing brush, pdq.
