Second time I took the test alone. I made him a card with "I'm getting a baby brother or sister" inside, scribbled all over by our 2yr old :o) I then gave it to our little one to give to his daddy when he came home from work.

I agree with you Lottie.
I can't imagine how it must feel to lose a baby and as so many miscarriages happen in the early days I do feel it would be better if sometimes women just never realised they were actually pregnant in the first place.
I also know of quite a few couples who have shared their news with everyone quite early and then go through the ordeal of having to tell everyone the bad news. But then I can understand how it must be hard to keep it to yourself when you are so excited about it and I'm sure that time up to 12 weeks feels like an age.

i lost our first at 6 weeks pregnant, i knew i was pregnant before i took the test and got treated like a child by the hospital.
Second time i did a test to shut my in laws and work supervisor up who had guessed before we knew as i had a bump (i was about 9 weeks when we found out) and my boobs were getting huge (went up to a j cup #blush#).

when i was pg the first time i took the test when i got home from work and waitied till star trek was on before i told him (i did at least wait for the advert)
because she was stillborn we were trying again, and i said to him "if i was pregnant would you want me to tell you, or would you want me to keep quiet for a bit" (had to do early testing because of meds i was on which needed to be changed if i was pg). He said he'd want to support me, so i showed him the test stick (digital one)

my husband told me he thought i was pregnant - while we were out for my birthday! - went and bought a test the next day. I went upstairs and took the test, came downstairs and asked him what he wanted it to be - he said "a boy" - i had of course meant negative or positive! he's a numpty but we did get a boy in the end! x
Had been trying for nearly 2 and half years and after so many negative tests together i didn't even tell him i was doing another one because expected it to be negative. It was infact positive and because i wanted to tell him face to face i waited alllll day because it was early morning! When he came home that evening i held 2 tests behind my back and asked 'which hand'? He said 'both' so i produced 2 positive pregnancy tests. His face was a picture!
Aww love this thread!
With our 1st we tried for 11months, when I was 'late' I didn't say anything, + did the test on a day off while DH was in work....I couldn't bring myself to look at the stick, so cleaned the house from top to bottom......Eventually braved a look, seen it was positive so,seen as though I Can't hold my own water, as my Mum would say, so rang him + shouted "we're going to have Ginger babies" down the phone like a loony! Thankfully, we haven't! Hahaha.
