Rumble noise getting faster as i speed up

I have a peugeot 206 and it has developed a rumbling at the front that gets faster as i speed up.I have checked for play in the wheels suspecting it could be a bearing but there is no play,the rumble disappears when i bear or turn left,any ideas please?

Most likely a worn wheel bearing. Jack up the front and spin the wheels up by hand, you should be able to detect which side feels a little coarser as you turn it.

Possibly one of your drive shafts is on the way out, check the joints.

I'd guess about £150 - £300 depending upon the car. State the vehicle and model and I expect someone else can give you a more accurate pricing. The are two wheel bearings per side and normally both would be changed.

Just had someone offer to do it for £120 but if the hub needs replacing then £180,been told it could be badly scored.....New one on me....Thoughts please anyone

But wouldnt the car pull to one side?

A wheel bearing will rumble like that so when you turn left it relieves the pressure on the right side and the noise will change. So probaly front offside bearing. Should not be a hugely expensive job for a good mechanic. Not main dealer though!

You may think this stupid! Check there is no Screws/ bolts the the tyre has picked up on the thread, is there anything caught under the front end of the car? other than that as said, bearing.
