On new years eve i was robbed when i was out shopping and the man said he had a gun, I did not seee one but i did give him everything i had, but my ? is I had the police come round today asking more about what happened and so i told them, but she stopped me and said did this really happen? I was shocked and told her why would i make it up anyway she said people do make things up. they is cctv of me but not the man, and i have told them everything i new about him, and she told me they have seen me but no the man that robbed me, it has made me so upset I dont know what to do? sorry she also said they had a lead today but it came out it was not to do with this case, I have asked around and people say drop it and others say no keep with it, well its making me sick and i just dont know what to do ??? any help please?

Some people do make up things like this (I am not saying you have).

They may do it as perhaps they could not afford xmas presents so tell people they have been robbed so they have an excuse for not buying them.

Some people may do it as an insurance fraud.

Others may do it to get attention (people do all sorts of things to get attention like going to hospital with a fake illness).

I guess if the police dont see anyone on CCTV they may suspect you have made it up for one of the reasons above.

If you are convinved you are right then stick with it (though my guess there is little chance of catching anyone)

have you told them EXACTLY where it happened?

if so, if they have that bit of footage, why would there be no man...?

what did you do afterwards? any footage of that?

i can see where theyre coming from... i would doubt you too... but you must make sure to pinpoint the exact spot and time...perhaps you hve given wrong info in the shock...

Robber was probably an off-duty cop.
