Have been watching on catch up this week. What was the object that Derek too from Pats bedside table? I couldn't make out what it was and whether it had some meaning that I missed as well.

It was something small, like maybe a key ring, I think he broke it later on, but I still couldnt make it out.

As far as I could make out, it was one of her earrings, a dark blue oval shaped loop.

Yes I think it was an earing. We don't know what 'thing'' linked Pat & Derek together do we? perhaps it will all come out now.

The "thing" that links Pat & Derek is that David, Pat's son, got Derek's sister, Carol, in the family way with Bianca then cleared off and left her.
