Liverpool's whole stance over the Suarez-Evra incident has been more than disappointing.
If anything, Dalglish has only exacerbated the matter with his 'Suarez has made a brilliant statement' comment.
Further still, for Suarez to subsequently make a general apology but not one personally to Evra makes it appear that Suarez and Liverpool deem the whole episode of racial abuse to be trivial.

With such a mindset is it any wonder that a section of fans will act in the same manner?

sp1814, I'm actually undecided about Abbott. What I'm thinking is that tweets, with their 140 or so characters, are always going to be a bit distorted and devoid of context - like newspaper headlines, except that you don't have a full-length story underneath a tweet to back up its hints and allegations. So we may some day just have to agree that a tweet does not tell anything like the full story about the tweeter and what he/she is actually thinking.

This doesn't necessarily apply to footballers, newspaper columnists etc who can go ranting on pretty much as long as they like.

I didn't personally feel offended by Abbott, though. I didn't think she meant me. I wonder how many of those who complained did take it personally, and why?

After many years of removing racism from football, it makes one wonder why this sudden escalation of incidences?

I am not a football fan myself, but I know enough to realise there is much loyalty between fans and their particular clubs, and I presume if a certain individual causes such a rumpus which results in a favourite player either being sent off, suspended or the match abandoned, he will cause hostilities to fester among the supporters.

Then there is the fact that if a particular player upsets the crowd in some way, (be him black white or whatever) he must expect some retaliation from the crowd.

A football crowd is what it is, a crowd of highly emotional group of persons, they are not a concert audience.

no player deserves to be abused for the colour of their skin whether they be black or white,some of the worlds best players have been black..and if you love football then you must love the some of the best players, they may be black and they may be white but racism has no place in football..indeed racism has no place in any walk of life..but sadly it is all too commonplace..

It is a sad fact that when a person gets annoyed with another they generally attack any physical differences that person happens to have.

i.e. you 'Fat' Bast**d, you 'Ginger Haired' Bast**d, you Ugly Bast**d, you 'Bald Headed Bast**d. and I suppose in a predominately black country 'You White Bast**d.

It is a human failing, from childhood onwards, when are black people going to realise this?

Seems Liverpool can apologise personally to a player for their fans (alleged) behaviour but they can't do it for their player's behaviour when found guilty by the FA.
