I have heard this one for over 60 years but was told by my father that it was a war time ruse. We let it be known that night fighter pilots were recruited for their eye sight and fed on liberal doses of carrots/

I have heard this one for over 60 years but was told by my father that it was a war time ruse. We let it be known that night fighter pilots were recruited for their eye sight and fed on liberal doses of carrots/juice. This was to mislead the enemy re our radar/detection devices installed on aircraft. Presumably the vitamins in carrots if taken in moderation are good for you.
