Are the sellers on there geniune? I'm thinking of buying a 9ct gold chain on there but is it safe? Are all their products second hand? Do buyers get any protection from scam sellers on there?
My daughter uses eBay quite a lot and normally has no trouble with it, she uses paypal. Only once she bought a Raymond Weill watch as a suprise present from the OH to me and paid up, but no watch materialised. She tracked down the address to Student-land digs, and no-one there knew anything about it. The Police followed it up and eBay refunded the money.
You opt to take the risk or not. I've got some bargains on there and been caught out a few times too. And yes I do check all the available information first. And no neither eBay nor Paypal wanted to know when I was scammed so I got the impression they were happy for their customers to be conned that way. I no longer rely on help from either.
Old Geezer, that is not always the case. I got duped big time and turned to paypal, then the police. The police said the problem was with paypal (who had said I had funds - which was later not the case as real persons account had been hacked into.) Wrote an old fashioned letter to paypal giving police number phone number etc. Paypal paid up!
