Some people are sadly not missed, whoever they have left behind are glad to see the back of them. Some have no family. Some go off with a new partner, it doesn't work out, they vanish. There are many more missing people than most of us realise...
Sherr it was your post that made me think...but ive often thought!
But kids / teens go missing and i see things in shops snd on lamposts but not national or even local news.....i dont understand how people just let that slide...they could be murdered x
I'd imagine there are thousands of missing people at any one time. They couldn't make them all high profile, there arent enough hours in the day. They save it for the ones they have serious concerns over.
A relative of mine went missing. The police were contacted, but they said if an adult decides to disappear, it's his/her choice - there's nothing the police can do. End of story. Therefore like thousands of others it didn't make the news.
(Incidentally, I'm pleased to say he turned up again).
My family went through a similar experience to Naomi. He turned up after about a year. It is very hard because you don't know where you are - do you grieve and then sort their stuff out, or should you hang on in case they turn up? But adults can cut themselves off from family and friends if they want to, hence lots and lots of missing people.
they make local news. But also most missing people are people who have ran away. In our town there is a grave with a headless body in. The ladies body was found in a nightie in a field in the 70s and still a mystery. Surely someone missed her. Even after recent dna they dont know who she is.
