it will hate it in your kitchen as its too warm, they are quite hardy plants. If you live somewhere cold then wrap it in frost fleece and don't water it, If you live somwhere warmer, just leave it out. I live in hampshire and mine stay out on the patio all year unwrapped

Depending on where you live you can keep your olive in a sheltered but sunny spot in the garden or in an unheated greenhouse, but don't water it too much. I live in Staffordshire and my olive stays outside all year round, but is in the shelter of the house. Your plant should have well drained soil but be watered fairly regularly in the summer. It's an evergreen tree so will continuously shed leaves through the year but it doesn't want to live in a warm house!

Sounds like the sudden change in tempreture has sent your olive into shock. I think its chances of survival would be better outside, if you can find a warm sunny aspect. The thing to remember is its a tree of medeteranian clim's, so give it just enough water to stop it drying out completely, i find a little rain water is a great tonic for recovery. Hope you sucseed
