Hi, I love the new Rhianna song thats all over the radio just now, I think its called 'Dont stop the music' and its got an old 80's tune on it I tink maybe Gloria Estefan. Does anyone know the words she's singing in this bit?? Its repetative and i start singing along then realise I dont even know the words!!! Ta.
Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" samples the Michael Jackson 1983 single "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'", which itself sampled the 1972 single "Soul Makossa" by Manu Dibango.
A corruption of the original "Mama-ko, mama-sa, mama-ma-ko-sa" became the "Mama-se, mama-sa, ma-ma-koo-sa" that is present in Jackson's track and is now interpolated into the bridge of Rihanna's song. "Makossa" means "I dance" in the Duala language.
Hey! I'm about four years too late on here, but I thought the same thing about Gloria Estefan and Rihanna's song! What song or tune are we thinking about? :)
