My builder who has landscaped my garden, built me a garden wall, blockpaved my drive, fitted new bathrooms, decorated the whole house, charges £100 a day labour only.
My gardener, when he bothers to turn up, charges £15 an hour.

£10 an hour for a cleaner in brum, about 20-25 for a general handyman, £30 for one who can do basic plumbing and simple electrics like putting in light fittings...

My plumber is cheaper and he takes a turn making the tea if its a long job

Hi Chris, it depends where you go for your jacket potato but yes, you can eat out really cheaply in some places round here. That's a shame about prices being so high in Suffolk. A while back a few different people I knew were moving to Suffolk and I thought it must be better there. Is it?

A mate of mine does exactly this sort of thing, he charges £80 a day, which I think is pretty cheap really, Weston-super-mare area.

Going rate in my area seems to be £30/hr. That includes his van. However, his other car is a top of the range 4x4. Makes you think. However, people seem prepared to pay it.

Here in the Deep South, Derek................ plumbers and electricians working for a biggish company are around £30-35. Guys working on their own, £20-25.
General all-rounders about £15. Plasterers around £20-25.

It rather depends on the complexity of the job. Often, plumbing and electrical are beyond the scope of all-rounders.

We do renovation work using traditional methods and materials. This includes stonework, plastering, rendering, pointing, roofwork and drains etc etc. I've been on £14 an hour for the last 4 years and at the moment having to drive 25 miles to the job. It's difficult to set a fair wage and not put people off. We are lucky I suppose to have quite a bit of work lined up for this year.

£100 min for the day down here in Sussex. I paid a plasterer £130 for the day but that did include materials.

That's a tough, messy, neck breaking job and probably does attract high end prices similar to those of the skilled tradesmen, but still worth getting a second quite at least.
