I recently got a puncture in the passenger side tyre of my 1998 renault scenic RT. Upon trying to change the wheel I released the 4 main wheel nuts. These removed the wheel remained stuck fast. Is there a central wheel nut on this model that I have not noticed. There appears to be a very large central nut but I have no attachment in my spare removal equipment. Can you please help?
You dont need to remove the central nut. only the wheel nuts. I am guessing you have alloy wheels as it is very common for these to become corroded on to the hub.
As long as all the wheel nuts are off you should be able to tap the wheel off with a hammer & piece of wood (to protect the wheel).
HI had the same trouble this weekend on fiesta once yiu have removed w nuts it will be rusted on in the centre use release oil and a hammer with block of wood to loosen wheel clean up centre of hub and apply grese to prevent it happening again and also check all your wheels
Hi grunty, I am sorry to tell you that the handbrake has nothing to do with if the wheel's comes off or not, However the handbrake should always be applied when jacking up the car to ensure that it will not move or roll when you are working on it.
Alloy wheel corroded to the hub I would guess. Should come off with a little effort.........SHOULD !!! But I watched two tyre fitters using a sledge hammer and a block of wood, try for a 1/4 of an hour before thay managed to remove a Vauxhall alloy wheel.
