I have saved a few Google earth street view images, can anyone please tell me how I can now turn them into photos proper without all the superimposed items?

Don't know if that will be possible. My Streetview saves images as JPEG. I don't think there is a JPEG editor.
Maybe some computer expert knows different.
A picture file is a picture file, editors that load them will allow you to edit them, but I can't imagine it can take off things that are superimposed, that would need to be hand crafted.

I think you need a way to remove the superimposed stuff before saving somehow.
I have just done a quick test with Photoshop. It can edit a JPEG. Depending on the amount of detail behind the Google text you can do a reasonable job with the 'clone' tool.
on Photoshop you could quite possibly remove the yellow lines just by deleting all the yellow from them. I expect this will do the same

plus the clone tool. There may be an instant way to do all this, but I don't know of one.
1. open google image
2. press 'print screen' key
3. open Paint
4. Paste (ctrl V) image to Paint
5. Left menu Paint, click dotted square (DS)
6. Use cursor (DS) on part of image you want, Press Ctrl c to copy
7. Open 'new' Press Ctrl V to paste chosen image
8. File as xxxx.jpg
